Oban 2010
Oban 2010 Easter
It started for me on Thursday 1st April, I wasn't really up for it because I had been ill and of school all week with a bad cold, which meant I was worried I would get there and not be able to do any diving. By the end of the week there was no flu or cold remedy I hadn't tried.
Me and my dad set of on the supposedly (according to Sat Nav) six hour long journey to Oban at half past one. We had to stop by Warren and Karen's house first to pick up some of their luggage which they couldn't fit in. The traffic heading out of Poulton in any direction was stood still, so it took at least a half hour to get out of there, and a few hours later we got stuck again in Glasgow but thankfully Warren's quick thinking took us thorough the town centre and we escaped (this was the point the sat nav was turned off). We also stopped at the Drovers for tea what an amazing place, though i was disappointed I saw no ghosts.
When we finally arrived in the middle of nowhere at around half eight we couldn't find the chalet. Number 16 they told us we were in, now this would have helped if there were a number on the chalet, but there wasn't, pitch black also doesn't help the matter.
We discovered you could only get a signal at the top of the hill, so there was me and my dad at the top of a hill in the middle of the night holding a mobile in the air telling my mum we had made it. I'm glad I don't know anyone there. But eventually we did get in and warm, and settled down for a good nights sleep, Not!
I made another important discovery that night; don't sleep in the same room as my dad he snores so loud he wakes himself up, let alone me!
Anyway, without much sleep we were up in the morning at seven and oddly I was really ready to go and dead excited. We got to the car and the tire was flat. Great start. At this point the icy Scottish air had pretty much cleared my nose.
We got diving at about eleven (after a little kafuffle with the boats) and we did a few scenic dives which I really enjoyed there were plenty of crabs, starfish and a rich abundance of wellies, much to my dad's dismay no scallops. I got out to find my dad had a big tear in his suit on his bum! Lol. and later on he smashed the screen on the front of his phone. Not his best day, however the second and third days ran much more smoothly for us .The rest of my dives were on the Breda with my dad. Everyone except lloyd had told me this wasn't the most impressive wreck so I didn't know what to expect, like lloyd however this was my first wreck and thought it was fantastic I would love to go back! I think I will really enjoy wreck diving with my dad. On my last dive of the trip the weather had perked up and we saw a seal and fish , it was a good day .I would have stayed down longer but my dear old dad got cold. I had a great trip and we headed of early home where I knew there were Easter eggs waiting!
Thank you to everyone for making my first trip one to remember
