Training

Training
The complete range of BSAC training from Ocean Diver (new diver) through to Advance Diver are undertaken within the club. We are happy to take qualified divers from other agencies who wish to further their experience and cross over to a BSAC diver grade. Anyone wishing to learn to dive are recommended to try a try dive to see if you like it and recieve more information on the Ocean Diver Course.

All training is undertaken within the club by our team of volunteer instructors every Monday evening throughout the year your membership fee and pool fee are your only expense.Your membership fee entitles you to as much training over twelve months as you or the club are able to do, usually up to Sports Diver level. All SCUBA equipment, like the training is, subject to availability, provided free for all new diver members. Practical and theory lessons alternate from the pool sessions in the Palatine Leisure centre and the classroom sessions at the St Anne’s Cricket Club

New Divers
For those new to the club and diving, a bespoke programme to suit your needs and pace is developed with our Training Officer, Sara Gaskell. As everyone's needs and pace of learning are different the timescales are kept flexible to make the whole experience as relaxed and friendly as possible.

All you need to start training with the club is to be over 12 years of age and medically fit to dive. A self declaration diver medical is required for all new members. Anyone under 18 years of age will require a parent or guardian to be in attendance at club training and openwater dives

Training can be undertaken at anytime of the year but late winter to spring is a good time to start and make a seamless progression into the summer season and the opportunities for local diving. We arrange training weekends every month with instructors to progress new divers as quickly as possible

Experienced divers
The needs of all divers are catered for within the club. Training from Ocean Diver, Sports Diver, Dive Leader and Advanced Diver is undertaken.
